When Books Write Themselves

Funny story… last year, while I was working on the ending of BODIES IN MOTION, the ending for the series was headed in a different direction. The plot for Book 2 centered around everyone’s favorite engineer, Rowena Lee, making peace with the grounders and eventually falling in love with one. The set up was in BiM. I was already laying the groundwork.

And then in walked Hollis Silar.

Chapter 21 in BODIES IN MOTION was where my beautiful outline fell apart.

Sometimes characters just work together. Sometimes things line up a way you didn’t plan for them to. Sometimes… life takes an unexpected turn.

Rowena and Hollis have a history (so. much. history.) and the scene between them was ridiculously easy to write. Their personalities were too good a match, and so I redid my outline. I’m not sorry I did. LAWS OF ATTRACTION is half-way done and the character interactions make it incredibly fun to write. They fight a lot. They work together well. They’re a lot more open about their emotions than Selena and Titan were.

LAWS OF ATTRACTION is slated for a Fall 2018 release. Here’s my moodboard starring Regina Wan as Rowena Lee and Ken Bek as Hollis Silar.

Are you ready for this fight scene?
