Typhoons, Festivals, and Other Fun

My last update was in August the week before my husband didn’t have a heart attack.

The DIDN’T is very important, according to the doctor, because it looked very much like a heart attack. It had all the symptoms and signs of a heart attack. He collapsed during a run and was rushed to the ER by ambulance because the medics on scene decided it was a heart attack. And then he was moved to a larger hospital for the same reason.

But it wasn’t a heart attack.

It was a giant question mark of an event that left us going to doctors nonstop hospital visits and tests for two weeks which culminated in zero answers and a bonus case of COVID for everyone, probably picked up at the ER.

And then school started.

My kids missed the first two weeks of school because, after quarantining and masking since March 2020, they caught it from me and my spouse who picked it up at the doctor’s office. We all survived, recovered, and went back to school and work just in time for a typhoon to hit the peninsula.

In the middle of this, our household goods to arrived four months after they left the South Carolina house. The typhoon swung south of us, leaving us relatively unscathed

I’m unpacked, but I still haven’t finished decorating the office or hanging artwork.

And now it’s the end of September and I don’t know where the time went.

Okay, that’s not true, I know where the time went. I would just like it to not have gone. I needed that time, dashitall, and I’m very vexed that the Earth went on spinning even though I was too busy to enjoy everything!

I did manage to get out to the beach near Incheon and go boating with some friends. We found a cute French-style village. And there’s been lots of good food here.

October should be a calmer month.

SHOULD being the operative word here.

I’m settled in and writing again. My agent and I have chatted about upcoming projects and upcoming sales (I will share news when the ink is dry and I’m allowed to share). The 2023 publication schedule is mostly set. New books are coming, including Fleet of Malik #3 and the next All I Want For Christmas books. They will not be out this year, but they are on schedule for 2023 release dates.

And, now that things have calmed down, hopefully I’ll get back to updating the blog a little more often.

Talk to you soon!
Liana
