FOR EVERY ACTION (Fleet of Malik 3) FAQ- When’s that getting published?

It has been almost a year since CHANGE OF MOMENTUM debuted and I’m getting a lot of questions about when Fleet of Malik #3 will be available. Here is what I know right now…

Is FOR EVERY ACTION written yet?
As of March 2021 FOR EVERY ACTION is 1/5th written and fully plotted.

When is FOR EVERY ACTION being released?
The scheduled release date is late April 2022.

Why wasn’t FOR EVERY ACTION slotted for a 2021 release?
— You may have noticed that the Fleet of Malik books are not small. It takes longer to write them, it takes longer to edit them, it takes longer to proof read them, it takes longer to format them. Everything that needs to be done for the smaller books I publish needs to be done for the fleet books and it all takes more time to get things done. Because of that the Fleet books have been on an 18-24 month production cycle. April 2022 is 24 months from the release of CHANGE OF MOMENTUM.

Is there any way to make you write FOR EVERY ACTION faster?
— Realistically? No. But I appreciate the support! <3

Dr. Malcolm Long

Who is the main couple in FOR EVERY ACTION?
— The Fleet books have always been set up with three POV characters and the one still single at the end of the book is part of the main couple in the next book. If you’ve read CHANGE OF MOMENTUM you know Dr. Malcolm Long is still single (much to his mother’s annoyance). Since Malcolm is already on a collision course with the Fleet it’s not hard to guess which captain he might have eyes for.
… it’s Hermione. It’s Malcolm Long and Hermione Marshall and Sonya Lethe is going to lose her frikkin mind when she finds out.

Is FOR EVERY ACTION the last book in the Fleet of Malik series?
— No. FEA will close the series arc of finding the Fleet a new home and a political position in relation to the people on the planet, but it won’t be the end of the series (at least not if I have my way). I have three other novels set and plotted that will continue the Fleet’s growth and answer some questions how the Fleet got there, why the wormhole collapsed, and what the rest of the empire is up to.

I heard a rumor about a .5 novella. Is it true?
— Ah, yes, I don’t know how these rumors get started. (It was me. I was talking about it on Twitter). There are two bridge novellas following minor characters who are starting relationships rather than having the full relationship arc and winding up together permanently. The first follows Yoonjin Lee starting at the last class Rowena teaches and ending in the time gap between CHANGE OF MOMENTUM and FOR EVERY ACTION. That novella is tentatively titled A MEASURE OF STARLIGHT and has no set release date (because I need to make it shorter). The second bridges the gap between FOR EVERY ACTION and Fleet 4, and it’s called NEWTON’S CRADLE.

Wait… one of them has a COVER??? Why??? Is it coming out soon????
Ahahaha! No.
That cover was the original one I bought back when I thought I was going to write one short story about two characters. You’ll notice it has the old series title – Newton’s Laws – on it. I did that. Wrote about 20,000 words, realized I had another 80,000 words of plot, and realized I needed to set up the intensity of this couple. So I jumped back in time and wrote BODIES IN MOTION and CHANGE OF MOMENTUM.
That meant this cover no longer fit the series. Loathe to drop it into the digital recycling bin I plotted a novella with characters that fit the cover models. Dmitri Argosy-Silar appears in CHANGE OF MOMENTUM and Saskia will appear as the third POV character in FOR EVERY ACTION.

Can I get a sneak peek at any of these books?
Teasers will start appearing in the next few months. When they do, I will link to them in the FAQ.
